Interviews and media appearances

Quoted in a large tabloid when Lisa Williams was announced as a guest star in Princess Marthas supernatural shows, one line about cold reading

Comment on Norwegian Popular Science show Schrodingers Katts reporting on pseudoscientific phenomena.

TV2 Morgensending 30.10.10, on Kritisk Masse, and again on pseudoscience in media (Avisrunden)

I was at a conference about science communication in May 2012, and the back of my head appeared in the newspaper. (And it's a good article, too.)

Other activities
Norway's first and so far only skepticism and science podcast: "A Pinch of Salt"
Saltklypa
http://saltklypa.no/

Fun stuff, appearances in blogs, media and the like.

I had the good fortune of meeting Phil Plait, Rebecca Watson, Sid Rodrigues, George Hrab and John Rennie at a skeptics party in New York in april 2009.

George Hrab talked about our meeting briefly on his podcast, Geologic Podcast, and Phil Plait linked to the episode, and also published a picture with half my face on it on his blog!

The Norwegian members magazine for the Humanist Association also has a web-based news-site. They joined us on one of our regular Drinking Skeptically-meetings.

In january of 2010, we got contacted by some journalism students at Høyskolen i Oslo. They wanted to make a radio-report on skepticism, linking it to a recent trend-analysis by Synovate suggesting science and skepticism is about to become more popular. I talked to them quite a bit before and after we went to "The Men Who Stare At Goats" based on the book by Jon Ronson.

PZ Myers is coming to Oslo! I wrote a post on the Skepsis.no forums to let people know, and within a day, he had reposted my words on his website. The link to the forum post can also be found in his post.

I got to eat dinner with him too, since I happen to be working on my master's degree at the research center that invited him, and they know I'm a nerd. I was at that dinner! Oh man!

After I sent him a few pics, I got another mention on the blog and he posted one of my photos of his visit, too.

During Atheist Alliance International conference in Copenhagen (Gods and Politics), a few fun things happened, but this was one of the funnest. Randi performing a magic trick on me.

At TAM London in 2010, after a similar stint at AAI earlier the same year, my brother convinced Richard Wiseman to mention how many dwarves were actually cast in The Wizard of Oz. There is no proof, but you can trust this tweet. https://twitter.com/b3ndik/status/27624504067

Our conference on science and critical thinking, Kritisk Masse, has been getting some press lately.

Homo Religiosus? Hvorfor er mennesket religiøst? (Why are humans religious?)
Multidisciplinary seminar on religion. Involves biologists, theologians, historians of religion, psychologists, og archeologists. To be held Friday and Saturday 16th and 17th of September 2010. Will give more info when it is available.

Biologisk Fagutvalg (BFU)I'm currently in the student's association for Biologists. This is the connecting point between the students and the Institute for Biology. I participate in a range of activites through this. (Abovementioned seminar on religion partially included.)

Fruktbar Fredag
Bi-weekly popular science lectures based around biology. Check out our facebook page here, and our website here (videos from selected talks will be published here as they are ready):
http://fruktbarfredag.no/

Frokost hos Kristine (Breakfast at Kristine's)The Biology-building is named after Norways first female professor, renowned biologist, Kristine Bonnevie. Every week we serve students and staff at the house breakfast and some light learning based on activites at the Institute, or some other scientifically based endevour. I got this started on my own, and ran it pretty much alone (some help with preparing the breakfast most weeks, luckily) for the first semester. Now we're a wonderful team of 6.
