Wonderful Weird World
On a bus from one Norwegian city to another, I met a former colleague and we talked most of the trip. For some reason (probably me), we started talking about religion and the supernatural. He was shocked that I don't hold anything supernatural at all to be true. He figured my life must be very empty and boring. Quite the contrary!
There's plenty of weird shit in the material world that we can ooh and aaah over, absolutely without imagination, or crystals, or reiki grids, or magic webs of interconnectedness between all souls.
I'm talking about biodiversity. And stars. And wonders of engineering, like huge buildings and bridges and spaceships. And every once in a while, to remember how it is possible for me to write down my thoughts on a machine and have them flung across the intertubes with no hassle at all.
But most of all, I'm talking about this.
In a world where a wild goat (Ibex?) can get its horn tangled on a wire connected to the mountainside, and slide along the wire to the pole it was securing 300 feet further down, you don't really need things that are unexplainable to spice up your life.
This is the world I want to live in.
